The VQC Indigenous Center
In February 2005, the Voz que Clama mission created the first center of its kind to address the needs of indigenous people with disabilities in Central America
Indigenous Outreach Visits
The mission recognizes the current threats facing indigenous culture and livelihood and is committed to assisting these marginalized people.
With its indigenous outreach program the mission makes an arduous journey once a month to the Cabecar reservation in the Chirropó Mountains to deliver supplies and engage the community in dialogue regarding important issues, educational programs, musical activities, and games.
Economic Empowerment
On each trip to the indigenous community, the outreach group holds a meeting with the chief and receives a list of supplies needed.
The mission then provides the community with these items on their next visit. As it is Voz que Clama’s desire to teach the importance of self sustainability, VQC´s outreach group trades these donations for goods provided by the Cabecar people.
Indigenous Hosting Services
VCQ offers free guest housing to the indigenous people who come to town to visit family members, purchase supplies, tend to legal matters, or receive medical attention which is not available on the reservation.
